Gajah Gallery is honoured to be part of the inaugural edition of Art Stage Jakarta, which will host 50 international galleries as Indonesia’s premier boutique art fair. The fair will be held from 5 – 7 August at the Grand Sheraton Jakarta. Building on the success of Art Stage Singapore, Art Stage Jakarta continues this distinction by highlighting the best of the region and bringing the burgeoning Indonesian art scene to the fore.

Indonesian artist Yunizar will premiere his highly anticipated new sculpture ‘Garuda’, which stands at 1.8meters in height and depicts the powerful fabled creature in pure bronze. The massive sculpture was crafted in collaboration with Yogya Art Lab, and will be a centerpiece at Gajah Gallery’s booth. Mangu Putra has created a breath-taking diptych in continuation of his ‘Wilderness’ series, which transports the viewer into the heart of a dense, entangled forest. Bali-based American artist Ashley Bickerton will show his latest work, ‘Kid 3’, for the first time in Indonesia. This captivating work comes from his latest series of intimate portraits, which frame a single character amidst an array of symbolic and anthropological references.

As the paragon dealer of South East Asian art, Gajah Gallery will present some of the most established names from the region, bringing together artists Ashley Bickerton (United States), Abdi Setiawan (Indonesia), Handiwirman Saputra (Indonesia), Jason Lim (Singapore), Kumari Nahappan (Singapore), Li Jin (China), Mangu Putra (Indonesia), Rudi Mantofani (Indonesia), Sabri Idrus (Malaysia), Suzann Victor (Singapore), Ugo Untoro (Indonesia),Wei Ligang (China), and Yunizar (Indonesia).
