Gajah Gallery is honoured to be part of the inaugural edition of Taipei Dangdai, which will host 90 of the leading international galleries as Taipei’s premier contemporary art fair. For this highly-anticipated event, the gallery will feature an outstanding selection of the latest works from prominent contemporary artists throughout the region. The fair will be held from 18 – 20 January at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

Bali-based American artist Ashley Bickerton premieres new works which revives the ‘blue man’ character, satirizing the Western foreigner as an extraterrestrial creature interacting in cliched tourist activities and spots on the island. Following the success of her recent solo exhibition at the gallery last year, Suzann Victor presents her latest series of sculptures created in collaboration with Yogya Art Lab, depicting religious iconography covered in crushed glass derived from stained glass panels, endowing them with an ethereal and almost spiritual quality. Li Jin, one of China’s foremost contemporary artists, will showcase a selection of works that illustrate a philosophy of liberation and contentment, breaking with the archetypal formal subject matter associated with traditional Chinese ink paintings.

As the paragon dealer of South East Asian art, Gajah Gallery presents some of the most established names from the region, bringing together artists Ashley Bickerton (USA), Suzann Victor (Singapore), Yunizar (Indonesia), Erizal As (Indonesia), Rudi Mantofani (Indonesia), Jigger Cruz (Philippines)  and Li Jin (China).
