Mark Justiniani is one of the Philippines’ leading contemporary artists, recognised for a multidisciplinary practice that investigates perception, light, and the boundaries of realism. Originally known for his figurative paintings and jeepney assemblages, his work has evolved into immersive installations that explore the boundaries between reality and illusion.
Justiniani has exhibited widely at major international exhibitions, including the 2nd Asia Pacific Triennial, the Yokohama Triennale, and ARTJOG. In 2019, he represented the Philippines at the 58th Venice Biennale with his acclaimed installation Arkipelago.

Justiniani explores the boundaries between reality and illusion through mirrored surfaces and infinite reflections. Inspired by metaphysical ideas of the void and the black hole, the works examine excess, containment, and the paradox of abundance within emptiness. Light, reflection, and the surrounding environment generate luminous forms that appear to extend beyond physical limits, inviting contemplation of continuous cycles of transformation, birth, and dissolution.
