OGGZGOY

(b. 1992, Jombang, Indonesia)

Born in 1992 in Jombang, East Java, OGGZGOY pursued his passion for art at the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI), Yogyakarta, where he studied in the Fine Arts Department, Painting Study Programme from 2014 to 2021. Now he continues to develop his artistic practice, driven by a fearless commitment to creating works that will stand as a lasting legacy. In 2016, OGGZGOY embarked on a journey that took him out of the studio and onto the streets—a space he finds endlessly inspiring.

There are so many interesting spaces out there that you can play with to create a masterpiece. Central to his work is an interest in the unique and absurd. His fascination with the idea of “testicle” as a metaphor stems from its connotations of confinement and restriction—trapped in a tight, unyielding space. This concept inspired OGGZGOY to develop a character that embodies the struggles and chaos of urban life. Set against the backdrop of a bustling, grimy, and claustrophobic city, this “testicular” character serves as a reflection of modern existence.
