지크라 아피파 – Dzikra Afifah

지크라 아피파의 작업은 인간의 조건, 정체성, 그리고 회복력에 대한 보편적인 질문을 탐구하고 있습니다. 주로 재활용된 석기 점토를 사용하는 그는 인체 형상과 변형된 형태 사이에 놓인 조각들을 제작합니다. 작업은 점토를 빚어 형태를 구축하는 과정에서 시작되며, 이후 내부를 비워내는 과정을 통해 외피만을 남깁니다. 이러한 조각적 개입은 형태를 왜곡된 신체로 변화시키며, 형상을 둘러싸고 있는 공간과 내부의 빈 공간, 즉 ‘음의 공간(negative space)’의 중요성을 드러냅니다. 이를 통해 작품은 존재와 부재, 충만함과 공허함 사이의 긴장을 환기합니다.

아피파는 2021년 반둥 예술문화대학교(Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Bandung)를 졸업하였습니다. 그는 ARTJOG Young Artist Award(2022)를 수상하였으며, 제8회 Bandung Contemporary Art Awards(BaCAA, 2024) 공동 수상자로 선정되었습니다.

Dzikra Afifah’s practice explores shared human condition, identity, and resilience. Working primarily with reclaimed stoneware clay, she builds and then hollows out figurative forms, placing them in a state between bodily form and deformation. These distorted figures expose the significance of negative space, highlighting the tension between presence and absence.

Afifah completed her studies in Sculpture at the Bandung Institute of Arts and Culture in 2021. She was a joint-honorary winner of the 8th Bandung Contemporary Art Award (2024) and received the ARTJOG Young Artist Award (2022).
