이브라힘 – Ibrahim

색채와 직관을 바탕으로 전개되는 이브라힘의 작업은 관람자에게 잠시 멈춰 서는 순간, 그 안에서 무엇이 모습을 드러낼 수 있는지를 사유하게 한다. 그의 회화는 인간의 내면적 본질이나 영혼을 의미하는 ‘지와(jiwa)’와, 개인의 자아를 넘어 확장되는 감응의 방식인 ‘라사(rasa)’에 의해 형성된다. 이 두 개념은 내면에 대한 성찰과 타인과의 공감 사이를 오가는 그의 예술 세계를 이루는 중요한 토대가 된다.

이브라힘은 족자카르타 인도네시아 예술대학교(Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta)에서 회화를 전공하여 순수미술 학사 학위를 취득했다. 현재 인도네시아 욕야카르타를 기반으로 활동하고 있다.

Guided by colour and intuition, Ibrahim invites viewers to consider what might emerge in moments of pause. His paintings are informed by jiwa, the inner essence or spirit of a person, and rasa, an expansive mode of feeling that transcends the self. Together, these concepts shape an artistic vision that balances inward reflection with a sense of shared humanity.

Ibrahim graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. He currently lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

작품 전반에 걸쳐 회화적 붓질은 모이고 흩어지기를 반복하며 감각적 탐구의 장을 형성하고, 이내 생생한 질감의 풍경으로 재구성된다. 자연의 이미지를 연상시키는 화면 속에는 식물과 동물을 암시하는 섬세한 붓질이 드러나기도 하며, 한편으로는 짙은 푸른색과 회색의 색조가 지배하는 화면이 끊임없이 생성되고 변화하는 리듬을 펼쳐 보이기도 한다. 이러한 형상들은 이브라힘이 ‘행복한 우연(happy accidents)’이라 부르는 직관적 이미지 생성의 과정을 통해 나타난다. 작업 과정과 주변 환경에 의해 이끌리는 그 우연의 순간들은 작품 속에서 새로운 형태와 가능성으로 이어진다.

Across his works, painterly strokes gather and disperse in sensory exploration as they are reconfigured into vivid textured landscapes: hinting at natural imageries, some feature delicate painterly applications suggestive of flora and fauna while others, in their dominating hues of blues and greys, swell in a symphony of becoming. These forms take shape through instinctive image-making—what Ibrahim describes as ‘happy accidents’—guided by his process and environment.
