The state of existence begins on a blank slate. Stories are told from anecdotes, memories are built through recollections, and perception is derivative through experiences and emotions. The awareness of space and time has always been limited to a lifetime. Ancestral records and fables were the only available medium to fantasize about the past and dream of the possible future. The mind is a potent gateway and a massive void holding the possibilities for dreams and fantasies.

In the modern age, the advancement of technology has opened the floodgate to all kinds of information that were not available before. This has expanded our awareness of spacetime beyond what the human mind is capable of making sense of. Vicarious experiences are integrated into our lived experiences. The information that we retained becomes fragments of isolated realities existing as multiple versions of small universes that diversify our contemporary experience of space and time. The past, present, and future coalesce into one, reconstructing and invigorating our perception of a ‘one true reality’ beyond the concept of a linear spacetime, creating a paradox within our existential experience.

Spacetime Dreaming explores identity in a multidimensional reality and the potential of the human mind to dream as an innate mechanism to organize and reconcile the absurdity of the present, curiosity for the past, and dreams for the future.

Three versions. Two people. One motion.
Cradle Light features two figures – their heads emitting a similar light beam encircled by a halo – moving across space to embrace each other, suggesting that perfect companionship can be found even in the vast universe.
Moreover, just as the light emitting from their heads remains the purest white even as the primary colours of their bodies combine into secondary hues, so too can one hold onto one’s true self even while forming relationships with others.
Spirit Compass

Animation has released the planets from their fixed positions and freed them to follow the pull of the Spirit Compass. Yet at the same time, the snake coiling up the orbital ring is also free to move; it weaves up and down, repeatedly moving closer to the planets before moving away again.
This movement of elements in the painting thus pushes the existentialist idea even further – caught in the middle of this tug-of-war between light and dark, the emaciated body in the centre of the work is painted with upturned arms in a gesture that could be read either as a power move or an expression of weakness, a shrug.
Even with a Spirit Compass, there remains no preordained choice or direction.
