    Job Summary
    The Gallery Intern supports the team in realising exhibitions at the Galleries. In this role you will assist with the production and delivery of exhibitions from inception to completion. Working closely with the team, external curators, artists, and installers, you will be responsible for supporting exhibition management, including installation, loan agreements, and technical aspects.

    This job description is intended as an outline of duties and responsibilities for this role. It is not exhaustive and is likely to change over time. You may be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with this role.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Curatorial

    • Work with other teams to provide content and support for exhibition-related matters
    • Assist curators with the planning and mounting of exhibitions at the Galleries
    • Conduct in-depth research on individual works of art and specific artists
    • Produce information packs and research summaries on artists and/or specific artworks
    • Update and maintain exhibition materials including artist CVs, biographies, and exhibition histories
    • Draft extended texts for wall labels, exhibition guides, and didactic materials
    • Assist with the preparation of exhibition catalogues, press releases, and publication content
    • Support curatorial correspondence with artists, lenders, and institutions
    • Provide administrative support for curatorial activities and help manage curatorial projects

    Exhibition Management

    • Assist in the organisation of exhibitions from inception to completion, including timeline tracking and task coordination
    • Assist with the physical installation of artworks, including painting and repairing walls and pedestals
    • Assist with the technical aspects of multimedia and installation artworks
    • Support condition checking of artworks on receipt, during the exhibition, and at deinstallation
    • Assist with the preparation and processing of loan agreements and artwork consignment documentation
    • Coordinate artwork transport logistics, including liaising with art handlers and shippers
    • Maintain accurate artwork location records and exhibition inventory throughout the exhibition cycle
    • Provide technical support, maintenance, and daily operational oversight for all exhibitions locally and internationally
    • Coordinate general exhibition matters and act as a point of contact for on-site queries
    • Attend all exhibition openings and associated events during the internship period
    • Assist with post-exhibition deinstallation, packing, and return of artworks

    Digital & Communications

    • Assist with updating the gallery website with exhibition pages, artist information, and artwork listings
    • Support the creation of social media content related to exhibitions and gallery programming
    • Help coordinate digital communications and e-newsletters related to upcoming exhibitions and events

    Administrative

    • Provide general support to gallery visitors and respond to general enquiries in person, by phone, and by email
    • Carry out administrative duties including filing, typing, copying, binding, and scanning
    • Maintain and update exhibition files, digital archives, and documentation
    • Handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate discretion
    • Assist with procurement of exhibition materials and supplies, including obtaining quotes

    Others

    • Assist artists with proposal submissions for biennales and residencies
    • Assist the Gallery with proposal submissions for grants and funding applications
    • Assist in researching and sourcing new artists and artworks
    • Assist with artwork handling when required, following correct art handling protocols
    • Support the coordination of artist visits, studio visits, and related logistics
    • Any other general administrative or gallery duties as required

    Job Holder’s Specifications

    Essential

    • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in Arts Management, Fine Arts, Art History, or a related discipline
    • Keen interest in Southeast Asian art history and the regional contemporary art scene
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge and appreciation of the artists represented by the Gallery
    • Self-disciplined with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
    • Highly independent, resourceful, and well organised
    • Able to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Able to correspond professionally in writing with clients, suppliers, artists, and internal staff
    • Able to work on weekends and attend after-hours events as required
    • Discreet and trustworthy when handling sensitive or confidential information
    • Punctual and reliable in all aspects of the role
    • Comfortable with moderate physical duties, including assisting with artwork installation and handling

    Dress Code
    Smart Casual

    Working Hours
    4/5/5.5 day work week consisting of weekdays and weekend (weekdays: 11-7pm, weekends 12-6pm)
    3–6 months, with potential for extension subject to performance and operational requirements. Standard business hours with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and events
