Gajah Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition by Indonesian artist Heri Dono (b.1960), titled Mystical Monsters in Contemporary Society.
Heri Dono’s art is of cultural and socio-political origin, challenging the accepted order of things. Through his work he explores the problems within Indonesia and the world as a whole. The monsters and distorted figures of his unpleasant yet powerful work, though not all painted in the light of the current unrest, could reflect on a regional journey of angst and discontent that has led to this point in time in history.
