Gajah Gallery is delighted to announce its “Expressions of Dreams” exhibition, consisting featuring prominent contemporary artists Bang Sy Truc and Dinh Quan.

Bang Sy Truc is descended from a distinguished line of thinkers and artists in Vietnam’s literary, musical, and fine arts circles. The almost monochromatic simplicity of Truc’s artwork draws attention to the space around his subjects, evoking the Zen idea that nothing or everything can achieve prominence.

On the lacquer surface, Dinh Quan creates beautiful, sensuous shades of colour similar to abstract art. Some figures may be placed on, as prominently as paper-cut ones or integrated into the surface as in oil painting. Structures are developed diversely, multi-directionally, but also coherently. Details are given meticulous attention and are intimately attached to the painter’s intention and sentiments. A gentleness and peacefulness if now visible, hidden and then dissolved into the glamour of the beautiful lacquer surface. Dinh Quan pursues a very fine surface overfilled with concealed and complex feelings.

Dinh Quan produces stunning, alluring color shades on lacquer surfaces that are reminiscent of abstract painting. Some figures may be painted on, displayed as boldly as ones made of paper cuts, or incorporated into the surface as those made of oil. Structures are created in a variety of multidirectional and cohesive ways. Details are given meticulous attention and are intimately attached to the painter’s intention and sentiments. Currently apparent, then concealed and eventually absorbed into the glitz of the lacquer surface is a gentleness and tranquility. Dinh Quan pursues a very delicate surface that is overstuffed with complicated and hidden emotions.
