(b. 1970, India)
Recognised by both art critics and collectors as a serious artist to watch, Rathin Kanji has made a startling departure from the mainstream of Indian painting. Full of energy and possibilities, his works represent a juxtaposition of ancient and modern inspirations, life and death, reality and imagination, unusual textures and colours. His works have been hailed as “wise and sombre”. He has garnered several awards such from the Indian Society of Oriental Art (1996), Reflection of Another Day (1996), Bulbarga Tamil Sangam (1995).
