Artist Bio
(b. 1979, Hanoi, Vietnam)
Lê Hiền Minh is a Vietnamese artist whose practice brings historical, cultural and spiritual inquiry into conversation with contemporary social realities, examining the systems through which people understand their world. Informed by the political and social transformations of Vietnam during the 1980s and 1990s, her work considers how collective histories shape individual experience and influence the possibilities through which alternative ways of living and thinking might emerge.
A central element of Minh’s practice is her sustained engagement with traditional Vietnamese handmade Dó paper, which she has incorporated into her work for more than two decades. By adapting this material to contemporary artistic forms, she explores the relationship between cultural inheritance and transformation. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts, the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, and the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago. She has also received grants and fellowships from organisations including the Asian Cultural Council and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
