    Artist Bio

    Wok The Rock is an artist and curator working across the visual, sonic, and social fields. His practice is grounded in collaboration, experimentation, and interdisciplinarity—bringing together diverse artistic approaches in an inclusive, accessible, and contextually responsive way. He is a co-founder of the Yogyakarta-based artist collective MES 56 and runs the independent music label Yes No Wave Music, founded in 2007, which promotes Indonesian experimental and underground music on an international scale.

    Through Yes No Wave, he has co-produced influential Indonesian bands and collectives such as Senyawa, Punkasila, and Dialita, contributing to the development of their distinct sound that merges local traditions with experimental music practices.

    Wok has curated major platforms including Biennale Jogja XIII (2015) and Nusasonic (2019–2023). His work has been presented at notable venues and festivals such as Jakarta Biennale (2013), Tokyo Performance Art Meeting, Casco Art Institute (Utrecht), 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Sydney), Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, and SongEun Art Space (Seoul).
