Artist Bio
(b. 1967, Baguio City, the Philippines)
Leonard Aguinaldo’s works in print, rubber cut, and woodcut serve as vivid records of local culture. They are reverent and sometimes satirical snapshots of peoples’ cultural practices and customs: the animist beliefs and the spiritual worlds that hover quietly within these.
Spanning an art career of almost two decades, he has received numerous awards and has exhibited both locally and internationally. His works are recognized for championing ethnographic art, notable not only for how his chosen subject matter pays homage to the story of a people. His deep interactions with Northern Philippine highland and lowland culture continues to be his driving force and inspiration.
Aguinaldo lives and works in Baguio City, the Philippines.
