    Artist Bio

    (b. 1984 Quezon City, Philippines)

Gail Vicente creates installations, drawings and paintings that explore existence, conflict, patterns, transitions, and everyday experiences. She integrates everyday domestic objects like rugs, clothes, blankets, and lights to her works about home, comfort, and rest. Her choice of materials and objects is layered with pragmatic and metaphoric underpinnings; intermixing text and found objects to enable the possibilities for meaning-making of materiality and language.

Since 2008, she has been exhibiting her works in various alternative art spaces and galleries in Manila. Since 2007 to the present she has been involved with the development of The Chabet Archive and is the archivist for the non-profit art organization King Kong Art Projects Unlimited. Gail recently began her training in the field of conservation and in 2019 she was granted support by the Asian Cultural Council to do research on artist archives and conservation of contemporary art in New York City. She is one of the founding members of the Manila-based artist run initiative Project 20.

Vicente lives and works in Baguio City, the Philippines.
