Mutiara Riswari

(b. 1998, Semarang, Indonesia)

Mutiara Riswari studied at Yogyakarta School of Art in 2013 before continuing her studies at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. She graduated in 2019, and she currently lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Mutiara’s works mostly communicate about the spirit and human beings, and the relationship between humans and nature. She is inspired by the philosophy of Jagat Alit (microcosmos), a term that describes humans as an inseparable part of the universe. In her artworks, she connects the Jagat Alit concept to the psychological condition of humans. She believes that art is therapy for everyone, a way for one to release emotions, an exchange of energy.

Mutiara was the Finalist for UOB Painting of The Year Emerging Artist Category in 2019 and 2015. She had her solo exhibition titled ‘Eyes Wide Open’ at White Space Art Asia, Singapore in 2022 and ‘Critical Voyage’ at Artsphere Gallery, Jakarta in 2021.
